Are you looking for cute ways to dress up your home and table for the 4th of July? This flower coaster pattern is exactly what you need! It’s beautiful, easy, and so fast to make—your guests are going to love how they look.
There is something so fun about switching up your home decor as the seasons change, but let’s be honest—completely redecorating for every holiday can feel a bit overwhelming (and expensive!). That’s why I love textile decor pieces like crochet coasters. They are a subtle, modern way to bring those festive summer vibes into your living room or kitchen without cluttering your space.

You don’t need giant centerpieces or loud decorations to make your home feel ready for the 4th of July. Just placing a few of these handmade flower coasters on your coffee table or dining set instantly adds that warm, cozy, and patriotic touch we all want for the holiday weekend
The best part? You can keep using them all year round because they are just so pretty! You won’t have to leave them hidden in a closet gathering dust, haha. Plus, they work up in just a few minutes, and you don’t need much yarn at all, so it’s a great project for using up those red, white, and blue yarn scraps you have at home.
Imagine having your summer BBQ and seeing these cute flowers on the table. When your friends ask where you bought them, you’ll get to say, ‘I made them myself!’—and honestly, nothing beats the feeling of having unique, handmade decor that nobody else has.
Want to make your holiday celebrations even cuter? If you have a furry friend at home, you have to check out my free 4th of July dog bandana crochet pattern! It uses the exact same patriotic colors as these coasters, so your pup can match your home decor while you host your summer BBQ. It’s super quick to make and looks absolutely adorable!

PATTERN NOTES
- Please read through the entire pattern before you begin
- At the beginning of every single row, you must chain 2. This counts as your turning chain to get the perfect height for your stitches, but it does not count as an actual stitch.
- Make sure to use the same type and weight of yarn for both colors in your project. Using a thinner yarn for one color may affect the look of the color changes and result in an uneven finish.
- Use the reference images provided for guidance.
- The entire pattern is worked using Double Crochet (dc).
Instructions
With White Yarn:
- Round 1: Make a MR. Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch here and throughout). Work 12 dc into the ring. Join with a sl st to the first dc, dropping the white yarn and pulling through with Red yarn to complete the sl st. Carry the white yarn along, hiding it under your stitches as you go. (12 sts)

HOW TO CHANGE COLOR IN CROCHET
One of the most fun parts of this project is switching to a new color in every single round! If you’ve never tried this before, don’t worry—it’s incredibly easy. You can check out my complete step-by-step guide on how to change colors in crochet for a detailed breakdown. The secret here is to introduce your new color right at the end of the round. When you are about to close with your final slip stitch, instead of pulling through with the color you were using, drop it, grab the new color, and use it to complete that slip stitch. This will give you beautiful, clean lines and a perfect transition between the red, white, and blue rows!

With Red Yarn:
- Round 2: Ch 2. Work 1 dc inc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the first dc, dropping the red yarn and pulling through with Blue yarn to complete the sl st. Fasten off the red yarn. (24 sts)
With Blue Yarn:
- Round 3: Ch 2. [1 dc in the next st, 1 dc inc in the following st] repeat around. Join with a sl st to the first dc, dropping the blue yarn and pulling through with White yarn to complete the sl st. (36 sts)

With White Yarn:
- Round 4: Ch 2. [1 dc in the next 2 sts, 1 dc inc in the following st] repeat around. Join with a sl st to the first dc, dropping the white yarn and pulling through with Blue yarn to complete the sl st. (48 sts)

With Blue Yarn:
- Round 5: Sl st in each stitch around to create a clean border.

Note: If you want a simple, classic round coaster, you can fasten off here! But if you want to add a festive flower touch, don’t cut the yarn and proceed to Round 6.
With Red Yarn:
- Round 6: Join Red yarn. Sl st in the first st. [Skip 2 sts, work 7 dc in the next st, skip 2 sts, sl st in the next st] repeat around until the end of the round. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

If you love making coasters as much as I do, don’t miss my curated list of 10 crochet coaster ideas for even more inspiration! The best part about crochet is how easily you can adapt any pattern to fit a holiday. In fact, you can take almost any design from that list, change the colors to red, white, and blue, and instantly turn it into a beautiful piece of patriotic home decor for your 4th of July celebrations!

Washing Instructions (Machine Wash)
Since these coasters are made with 100% cotton, they are super easy to clean if they get any holiday BBQ stains! You can definitely toss them in the washing machine. Just make sure to use a cold, gentle cycle with similar colors so the red, white, and blue shades don’t bleed.
Once the wash is done, reshape them with your hands and lay them flat to dry. Avoid the dryer, as heat can make cotton shrink, and we want those beautiful flower petals to stay perfectly flat for your table!
I hope you enjoy making these festive flower coasters as much as I did! They are the perfect little weekend project to get your home ready for Independence Day. If you make a set, please tag me on social media or leave a comment below—I would absolutely love to see your patriotic tablescapes!
Happy crocheting, and have a wonderful 4th of July with your family and friends!
