Cute Fall Crochet Coaster Pattern

While autumn decor isn’t always as widely celebrated as Christmas decorations, it is a fantastic way to bring a warm, cozy touch into your home without a lot of effort. If you want to give your living room or dining table a quick seasonal refresh, these crochet fall coasters are the perfect solution! They instantly transform the look of your table without requiring you to completely overhaul your home’s aesthetic.

This mini crochet project is an absolute dream to make: it’s fast, adorable, and unlike any coaster pattern I’ve designed before! The best part? It’s the ultimate yarn-buster project. Because it requires very little yarn, there’s no need to run out to the craft store. Just dig into your yarn stash, grab those leftover scraps from previous projects, and you’ll find everything you need to get started today!

Whether you’re sipping a warm pumpkin spice latte or hosting a cozy fall gathering, these handmade coasters add just the right amount of seasonal charm. In this post, I’ll guide you step-by-step through this beginner-friendly pattern so you can whip up a set in just one sitting!

Adjusting the pattern

Pick Your Palette: I chose cozy, warm autumn tones for mine, but feel free to experiment! Go for high-contrast colors if you want a bold look, or complementary shades for a softer, more subtle design.

Size: Want a bigger or smaller coaster? Just add a few extra rounds to scale it up, or skip a round or two to keep it compact!

Choose Your Yarn: You can use whatever yarn you like best! Since this is a great stash-buster, feel free to work with your favorite scraps.

  • Pro Tip for Yarn Weight: If one of your yarn scraps is thicker than the others, you can split or unravel the strands until all your yarns match in thickness. That being said, mixing different yarn weights actually creates a unique, rustic texture that works surprisingly well with this coaster style—so feel free to play around and see what look you prefer!

Yarn & Tools

  • Scrap yarn in your choice of colors: I went with cozy fall shades, but feel free to use whatever you have in your stash or whatever colors you love best! Since this project takes such a tiny amount of yarn, the possibilities are endless.
  • 3.0 mm or 4.0 mm crochet hook: Choose the hook size that best matches the yarn weight you select.
  • Yarn needle: To weave in your ends and give your project a neat, polished finish. If you prefer to weave in your ends using only your crochet hook, that works perfectly, too!
  • Scissors

Before You Stitch

  • Read Through First: Review the full pattern before beginning to get a quick overview of the steps.
  • Use the Photos and video: Refer to the step-by-step images throughout the tutorial for visual reference, Youtube video is also useful
  • Embrace the Imperfections: Don’t stress if you accidentally miss or add a stitch or two! Small variations just make your piece one-of-a-kind, meaning nobody else will have a coaster exactly like yours. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes—just enjoy the process!

Stitch Guide

  • SC (Single crochet): Insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops on hook.
  • HDC (Half Double Crochet): Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops on hook.
  • INC (Increase): Work 2 stitches into the exact same stitch.

Care Instructions

How to Care for Your Coasters:

  • Washing: If you’re using acrylic yarn, hand washing with mild soap is recommended. (Fun fact: I accidentally threw mine in the washing machine once, and it held up great! Just make sure your ends are woven in securely).
  • Drying: Lay flat on a towel to dry so it keeps its shape.
  • Pro Tip: Do not iron! High heat can melt acrylic yarn fibers.
